ANOTHER quality field is expected at the Echuca Cup this weekend, thanks to a $25,000 tip from the Victorian Government’s Racing Industry Fund.
The thoroughbred racing industry in regional Victoria generates more than $700 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain more than 6100 full-time jobs in the region.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said the Victorian Government was proud to support the $100,000 Echuca Cup, as it provided a significant boost for the local economy.
“This long weekend the message is clear – get out to regional Victoria, enjoy the races and experience the many gems that our Riverine has to offer,” he said.
Racegoers will pack the banks of the Murray River to get a glimpse of racing royalty Might and Power and Apache Cat.
Off the track, families can enjoy a range of activities including a jumping castle, water slides and face-painting, and as per tradition fashionistas will compete in fashions on the field.
Echuca Racing Club president Troy Murphy thanked the government for its support and encouraged everyone to come along to what he promised would be a fun-filled family day of racing.
